About Us

Who is on board?

The SPAZ-HKP is overseen by a Board of Directors comprised of Enrique Rodriguez Krebs (President), Natalia Rodriguez Krebs (Treasurer), Cristina Rodriguez Krebs (Secretary), and their Voting Members Stein Dehli, Adriana Sanchéz Zoletto and Silvestre Pacheco León.

We currently have about 70 dedicated members, among them many active members and collaborators.

Nayely Neri Medina (with “La Buena”) has been looking after our animals on Sundays for the past two years.

Judith Noyola (here at the Casa del Arbol with Lucy) is in charge of the adoption services at our shelter in Casa Marina.

Spay & Neuter Campaigns
We spay and neuter pets of lower-income families at the SPAZ-HKP facilities at Casa Marina against a small symbolic fee: $150 pesos per male and female cat or male dog, and $200 pesos per female dog.

 By appointment only. (755) 112-1648
Animals should be brought in no later than 9 a.m. on the day of their appointment.
They should not be fed after 9 p.m. on the night before their appointment, and not be given water on the morning of the appointment.
The operated animals will be returned to their owners in the afternoon.
The appointment includes a general checkup.

In addition to the permanent spay and neuter campaign at Casa Marina, the SPAZ-HKP organizes several mobile spay and neuter clinics in marginal, mostly rural communities each year. The spay and neuter services during these campaigns are provided free of charge by a corps of local, national and international veterinarians and have proven to be highly successful and increasingly popular with the rural communities. The fundamental principal guiding each one of our projects, programs and activities is the prevention of unnecessary suffering of animals.

Education

We believe that education is key to fostering respect, kindness and empathy for both human and nonhuman animals. At its most basic level, humane education is about learning to care for the animals in our homes and communities.

In order to help instill a sense of responsibility for animals in our local children, the SPAZ-HKP frequently visits the Zihuatanejo schools giving lessons on pet overpopulation and the benefits of spaying and neutering pets and providing teachers with information on animal welfare topics, such as preventing animal cruelty and learning about endangered species.
